The Blue Water Task Force is the Surfrider Foundation’s volunteer-run water testing education and advocacy program.

The goals of the program are to promote environmental stewardship our community and ensure safe and healthy access to coastal habitats for generations to come.

Radiation Monitering

WE ARE PARTNERING WITH INFORM AND UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA TO CONDUCT RADIATION MONITORING.

Surfrider Vancouver Island volunteers are collaborating with the InFORM project to provide sampling support in Port Renfrew on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

InFORM is a monitoring network involving academic, government, non-governmental organizations and citizen scientists to acquire data, assess radiological risks to Canada’s oceans associated with the Fukushima nuclear disaster and rapidly, appropriately and effectively disseminate this information to the public.

InFORM is administered on Vancouver Island by the University of Victoria and Associate Professor Jay Cullen. InFORM has partnered with various non-governmental organizations to help organize citizen scientist seawater sampling groups as they are established in different coastal communities.
